Um pouco sobre o dia mundial do Rock:
Em 13 de julho de 1985, decorreu o Live Aid, um espectáculo musical de cariz humanitário, que ocorreu em simultâneo em Londres (Reino Unido) e em Filadélfia (Estados Unidos) com o pretexto de tentar alertar para a problemática da fome na Etiópia.
Contou com a presença de artistas como The Who, Status Quo, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, Madonna, Queen, Joan Baez, David Bowie, BB King, Mick Jagger, Sting,Scorpions, U2, Paul McCartney, Phil Collins (que tocou em ambos os palcos), Eric Clapton e Black Sabbath.
Com transmissão em directo pela BBC para diversos países, avivou o debate internacional o crescente problema da miséria no continente africano.
20 anos depois, em 2005, o mesmo Bob Geldof organizou o Live 8, uma nova edição com uma maior estrutura e concertos em mais cidades espalhadas pelo mundo, cujo objetivo principal, era o de pressionar os líderes do G8 para o perdão da dívida externa dos países mais pobres e assim tentar ajudar a erradicar a miséria do mundo.
Desde então o dia 13 de julho passou a ser conhecido como Dia Mundial do Rock.
